45 La fioritura dei mandorli è un evento talmente affascinante da meritare celebrazioni ed happenings ad essa dedicati in tutto il mondo. Sin dal 1934 ogni anno, ad Agrigento, tra febbraio e marzo - periodo in cui la Valle dei Templi si ammanta di una suggestiva coltre di fiori bianchi profumati - si celebra la fioritura dei mandorli con la Sagra del Mandorlo in Fiore , il MandorlaFest . In Germania, nella regione del Palatinato, è famosissima la Sagra dei Fiori di Mandorlo ( Gimmeldingen Mandelblütenfest ), organizzata a cadenza annuale a partire dal 1935, tra la metà di marzo e l’inizio di aprile. In Marocco, nel villaggio di Tafraoute, tra le montagne Anti-Atlas, al centro della Valle Ameln, famosa per la produzione di mandorle, ogni anno si celebra la bellezza della fioritura con il Festival del Fiore di Mandorlo . La celebrazione più antica, che risale ai primissimi anni del XIV secolo, è quella di Srinagar, nel nord dell’India, dove - nel periodo compreso tra marzo ed aprile - una moltitudine di persone giunge da tutta la valle del Kashmir, per godersi lo spettacolo della fioritura nel famoso giardino storico Badamwari (Alcova di mandorle).
